Syllabus

This course focuses on two climbing topics that are foundational to rock climbing: Anchors and Rappelling. The skills taught on this course will provide our students with the appropriate knowledge to build and clean sport climbing anchors safely.  

Some of the skills reviewed on this course are:

• Safety at the crag and introduction to personal tethers 
• Key principles of a reliable climbing anchor 
• Introduction to fixed anchors 
• Use and care of gear used to build sport climbing anchors
• Common climbing anchor set-ups 
• Rappelling systems
• Protocols for cleaning a climbing anchor
