As a BIPOC led organization we are committed to increasing the representation of Black, Indigenous and People of Color in the climbing community. Following this commitment we have designed a climbing program in collaboration with Portland and Corvallis Climbers of Color specific for BIPOC students. This program is first of it's kind in the state of Oregon and we are excited to make it happen.
Climbing courses in this program are led by certified BIPOC instructors and are aimed to address different skill levels and provide a safe space for our students to build community and take space.
- Scholarships: Everybody Climbs, along with our partner organizations, will be providing scholarships to support our students. Scholarships are limited and tuition for most of the programs are based on a sliding scale system to make the clinics more accessible. By doing this, we also ensure sustainability of the program. (Apply to our scholarship program)
- Volunteering: We welcome volunteers on clinics that we deem appropriate. Reach out to us if you are interested. (Fill our volunteer form)
- Apprenticeship program: Professionalizing our community is one of our key goals. It is imperative to improve representation in the professional field of the outdoor industry and to provide our students with high standards of safety and education. For this reason in 2023 we will be starting the EC BIPOC apprenticeship program with the goal of supporting individuals that want to become professional climbing instructors. (More info about this program will be shared in upcoming weeks)
